San Diego Off the Beaten Path: 3 Hidden Gems

San Diego has plenty of iconic attractions that are popular with tourists. However, for vacationers looking to enjoy San Diego like a local, there are plenty of hidden gems that are off the beaten path. However, if you’re new to the city, it can be challenging to find the hidden gems. That’s where Bluewater Vacation Homes comes in; we offer a wide range of luxury vacation rentals in San Diego. With our local knowledge, we’re steering you off the beaten path by highlighting some of San Diego’s hidden gems.

Amazing Hidden Gems in San Diego

While these attractions don’t garner the same attention as San Diego’s more popular sites, they still have a lot to offer travelers. Here’s a look at some of our favorites.

Spruce Street Suspension Bridge

Get outdoors and enjoy a stroll on the Spruce Street Suspension Bridge. The Spruce Street Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that allows you to cross over a canyon. Built in 1912, the Spruce Street Suspension Bridge features fantastic engineering and canyon views. While walking over the bridge doesn’t take long, you can also walk the canyon below, giving you further perspective on this surprising bridge. However, be warned; if you have a fear of heights or don’t like swaying bridges, the Spruce Street Suspension Bridge is not ideal for you.

Juniper & Ivy

San Diego is home to a wide selection of fantastic dining options, and Juniper & Ivy is no exception. This upscale restaurant is run by James Beard nominee Anthony Wells and offers an incredibly unique dining experience in a once-abandoned warehouse. The menu changes daily and focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Somehow, Juniper & Ivy hasn’t garnered the attention of some of San Diego’s other fabulous restaurants, making it one of the city’s tastiest hidden gems.

Presidio Park

While Presidio Park doesn’t offer the same attractions as San Deigo’s more famous Balboa Park, there’s still a lot to enjoy, including a quieter atmosphere. Located near Old Town, Presidio Park has 40 acres to explore and is home to the Junipero Serra Museum and Presidio Golf Course. Take a stroll through the park and enjoy stunning views of Old Town, the San Diego River Valley, and the Pacific Ocean. This walk in the park is sure to be one you remember long after your off the beaten path vacation to San Diego.
